University of Nations: Summer Surge

Imagine this:

Flying to Kona Hawaii with your family and staying all expenses paid!

WHEN: Starts August 1st and runs until Sept 15th. Opportunities to stay for one or two weeks and some may qualify to stay for up to 6 weeks.

WHERE: University Of Nations Kona (UON)—The Big Island of Hawaii.

A great opportunity for retired people too.

Sound too good to be true? Well then, Let’s add more to the package and let me paint for you the real vision.

WHY: Since you live in Southern Oregon, and we experienced Extreme Makeover: Home Edition together, you have a chance at something that will be available later to Christians all over the world. This is an opportunity to get in at the grassroots level of develpoing a prototype for future missionary builds all over the world.
We are talking about a Christian family camp on steroids friends; with hiking, snorkeling, surfing, scuba diving, volcano tours, and much more. Did I say it's on the big Island of Hawaii and there is no cost once you get there? Ya, there is a little catch; you have to pay your own airfare.

WHO’S ON BOARD:

YWAM founder Loren Cunningham, University of Nations Kona

David Cunningham, Hollywood movie director and founder of Global Virtual Studios

Rush Behnke--Southern Oregon Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Ken Snelling—infamous “architect of fun” and his lovely wife Jennifer as the events and activities designers

These men have joined forces to further develop UON’s campus in a “Summer Surge”. Since “School's out for summer”, there are lots of rooms and condos available. The food is great and they even have their own movie theater and worship center.

This will be the ultimate team building experience as well.

Oh, If you or one of your family members or co-workers are not a Christian yet, tell them to be prepared to meet their maker.

For those of you who hung around the McPhail family Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, that euphoric feeling at the build, that was the Holy Spirit you felt. We had thousands of people praying for that event. The whole experience was pure joy for almost everyone I talked to. People didn’t know what was happening to them. People who had been out of work for more than 2 years are still looking for something to help them feel that good again. Giving is thousands of times better than receiving.

NEEDED:

• Large Commercial General contractors, Residential Contractors, and Subcontractors large and small.

• Subs who specialize in elevators and especially Subs who design and equip commercial kitchens.

• Building material suppliers.

• Experienced construction trade workers from all trades, who have earned the right to wear the belt and know teamwork.

• Non-skilled workers as well. These positions will fill fast, so if you don’t make the list please become supporters and monitor the website for work-cams and updates.

• Your prayers, your financial support, and we even have an online auction to buy and sell with all proceeds going to this campus development project.

• I’m guessing about 7 thousand workers spending an average of 2 weeks each to complete the work. At any one time for 10 weeks about 750 working people on site.

When I said team-building, this is an opportunity to bring your entire crew, their families, your suppliers, and your positive sphere of influence.

WHAT TO BRING: You need to come with your favorite tool-belt and your most cherished hand tools if you will be hands-on. Management should bring a laptop.

• Sunscreen and beach needs.

• (JOY and Spirit of Jesus Christ & unity of Southern Oregon experienced at Extreme home makeover????? Etc.)

WHAT’S ALREADY DONE?

• Buildings are framed and/or concrete is poured

• Studio A, which is fully funded, is being built out by a private contractor and is one of 3 studios to be built.

OUR MISSION:

• Finish the 72,000 square foot Trans-media Arts Building.

• Finish dorm buildings to sleep 200 students and 2 condos with 32 units for staff

• Build movie sets where time allows

• Honor families

This is the most exciting part to me! Have you ever been watching a movie when you say to yourself, I wonder why Biblical worldview can’t be in Hollywood quality movies? Stop right there! David Cunningham, director and founder of Global Virtual Studios, shared the good news with me so I can share it with you.

Hollywood Director David Cunningham, who has directed major movies, documentaries, and TV series for 20 years, is investing his talent in Kona to produce and direct Biblical worldview movies. What’s exciting is that these movies will be Hollywood in quality and will be directed to honor Christ and honor family. David is the son of YWAM founder Loren Cunningham. David said, “Hollywood doesn’t honor family.” We will honor families and make provisions for family members to be together wherever the sets may be.”

The first feature film already in production is titled “David and His Mighty Men”. This is the first of five consecutive stories. I’m thinking the grandness of “Lord of the Rings” with the biblical message of the life of David. AWESOME!!! An interdenominational Christian missions campus producing Hollywood quality movies. How timely is that with worldly content out of control? The Big Island is so excited about bringing world class film to Kona they offered David free land but he wanted it to be part of the campus.

Wait it gets even better. Grassroots News is being developed at UON as well. Think about missionaries all over the world trained to report the news in real time. Would you watch this news channel? What would happen if we got the news stories straight from the people who are on the ground without an agenda or censorship? I can attest that while I was in Nigeria the news reported in the US never tells us the real story in Africa.

Movies, news, arts and entertainment, I am very happy to use my gifts to further this amazing effort.

A connection with all missions’ endeavors:

This event is a model-building experience for future classes to be taught in Kona and can be duplicated all over the world, by any organization, to bring help to the third world as well as the US. Christians all over the world need our help. David will produce a Reality TV show about this seemingly impossible build as well. I believe this will further promote “complete unity” in the body of Christ, and it will speak loudly about what Christians can accomplish together.

YWAM founder Loren Cunningham, understands that the Bible is “The Book That Transforms Nations”. Loren and Rush are partnering in this extreme build UON calls “Summer Surge”. Transform your family and come to Kona. Pray and offer your financial support as well.

Youth with a Mission (YWAM) is not unknown. There are over 600 universities in 142 countries, and they work with over 20 thousand staff members. Over the past several decades there are more than 4.5 million alumni (they’re called YWAMers) worldwide.

UON honors culture. While I was there last in the middle of May I worshiped with students and staff from 57 different nations.

ALL WE ASK OF YOU? Pay your own airfare and come prepared to be part of a team

YOUR GAIN? Being a part of something that’s grass roots that will end up being the model. . . . .
